Epoxy floors for East Tawas.
East Tawas is a small city on Tawas Bay, with older in-town garages, bay-side cottages and basements under homes that went up long before anyone coated a floor. Everyone here drives US-23, the Sunrise Side Coastal Highway, and a car coming off it in winter carries road brine into the garage. The brine sits in the pores of bare concrete, and freeze and thaw lifts the surface.
A hardware store kit does not survive that, because a roller and etching acid never open a troweled slab. We run a diamond grinder over the whole floor with dust extraction, fill cracks and chipped edges, then put down a wet base coat, vinyl flake and a clear coat. Darker greys and earthtones hide salt marks longer than a near-white. Call for a quote on your slab.

Questions
Epoxy floors in East Tawas: questions.
Will epoxy hold up to the salt my car brings home in East Tawas?
Salt brine and hot tires are what lift cheap coatings. We grind the slab so the base coat bonds to it, with flake and clear coat over that. Darker blends also hide the white salt film better between washes.
Can you coat a bay-side cottage garage or basement near Tawas Bay?
Yes. Cottage garages and year-round basements are both normal jobs. A basement is checked first for moisture coming up through the slab, because bare basement concrete also sheds dust. The flake boards come to the slab so you pick on your own floor.
Do you install epoxy floors in East Tawas?
Yes. East Tawas is in Iosco County, inside the Northern Michigan area we cover. Call (989) 255-1435 or send a photo of the slab and a rough size. We look at the concrete before anything is quoted.
Can I just roll a hardware store kit onto my garage floor in East Tawas?
You can, but it usually lifts by spring. A roller and a jug of etching acid do not open the troweled surface of the concrete, so the coating dries onto a skin. Hot tires and salt brine peel that skin off. Grinding is the difference.
Can a floor in East Tawas be coated in the winter?
Yes. Epoxy cures inside a closed building, so this is year-round work. Before the snow is easier, though: the garage is easier to empty and nobody is driving a salted vehicle back onto a new floor. How long to stay off it is something we tell you for your floor when we quote it.
